CANADIAN PLATINUM MAPLE LEAF

Part of the well known Maple Leaf family of pure bullion coins, the platinum Maple Leaf was minted between 1988-2001 in one ounce and several fractional sizes. In 2009, the one-ounce coin was reintroduced by the Royal Canadian Mint. Each platinum Maple Leaf coin prominently features the maple leaf, and an image of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. The American Platinum Eagle coin is the official government-authorized platinum bullion coin of the United States of America. The U.S. Mint began releasing these coins in 1997 and they come in one-tenth, one-quarter, one-half, and one troy ounce sizes. They are made from 0.9995 fine platinum and coin collectors can purchase uncirculated or proof versions of these coins.

The first platinum investment coin, the one-ounce Noble from the Isle of Man, was introduced in November 1983. The Isle of Man is an ancient British protectorate, and well known for producing a variety of high-quality coins with innovative and unusual designs. From 1983 through 1989, The Pobjoy Mint of England produced The Platinum Noble in sizes ranging from 10 ounces to 1/10 ounce, with the face value shown in "Nobles," a value equal the platinum content in troy ounces. The reverse of all coins features an historic Viking longship, “Thusly,” shown under full sail. The obverse features the young Queen Elizabeth II with crown.
